The Pelican Project is an ongoing series of creative workshops that explore the magic of art, nature and myth through sound, movement, text and visuals. The project has culminated in a series of processional performance featured in Regina's Cathedral Village Arts Festival, May 24-29, 2004, the Grasslands Project in the summer of 2004 and various other events. In June 2003, the Pelicans were invited to bring the magic of the procession to Ottawa, with performances in the National Gallery of Canada and in Strathcona Park.
Focused on youth 10 – 18 years of age, led by a team of emerging and professional artists, since 1998 project participants have explored Flamenco, Powwow, Japanese and contemporary dance; songs in French, Ukranian and Cree and constructed elaborate and imaginative costumes.
