Stream of Dance Biennale April 21-24, 2004

Building on the enthusiastic response to the Stream of Dance Festivals, New Dance Horizons introduces the Stream of Dance Biennale. A companion event in alternating years, the Biennale features full-length works and international artists to bring you a world of ideas and inspiration.

A special lead in to the Biennale, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet presents their touring production of The Magic Flute on April 21 at 7:30 pm. Bold and audacious, this is definitely not the Opera!
Tickets at all CBOs.

Tania Alvarado 7 pm April 23-24, 2004
Jacqui Shumiatcher Room, Centre of the Arts

Our Biennale double bill opens with a dream! Originally from Guatemala, Edmonton-based Alvarado's new work is inspired by somnambulism (sleepwalking). Unguarded behaviour and self-expression, simplicity versus extravagance in this compelling solo performance.
Alvarado performs with composer and sound designer Dave Wall on acoustic and electric guitars.

Thomas Lehmen 10 pm April 23-24, 2004
Jacqui Shumiatcher Room, Centre of the Arts

The late night feature of the Biennale double bill is mono subjects by Berlin's Thomas Lehmen. Choreographer, theatre and film performer, lighting desgner, teacher an carpenter, Lehmen opens the stage to a radically shared experience.

Taking place at 10 pm, this unforgettable trio is highlighted by three electric bass guitars played loud and live! With a splash of nudity and extreme volume levels this performance is definitely for mature audiences!

Tickets for each show $15 for adults, $25 for both shows
$8 for students and seniors, $15 for both shows
Available at all CBOs
