Founded by Sylvain Bleau ten years ago, La Caravane de Phoebus, an organization driven by humanist and progressive values – producer of the Cinédanse event and related activities, works in dance and in several other disciplines that revolve around it: cinema, visual arts and digital arts. Cinédanse began in Montreal in 2012 and in Quebec City in 2015 and in Ottawa in 2019, the fourth edition of Cinédanse took place in Rouyn-Noranda, in Abitibi in 2022, under the theme "Love, aging and dance". Cinédanse Québec - Saskatchewan is currently scheduled for the fall of 2025.
Over the past 38 seasons, NDH has worked with and presented many Québec artists, this marks the first major encounter bringing dance and film artists and practices from Québec and Saskatchewan together. New Dance Horizons’ co-artistic directors Edward Poitras and Robin Poitras first met M. Bleau and Ms. Hemingway through Cinédanse 2019 in Ottawa and were deeply moved and impressed by the work and experience of Cinédanse. They have had the great pleasure of continuing to work together toward bringing Cinédanse to Saskatchewan.
This first step toward CDQS 2025 began as an eight-part workshop series entitled MOVERS & MAKERS, realized in Jan/Feb 2024. This series was realized through a partnership with Alberta-based dance company m-body, Artistic Director, Davida Monk and On Cue Performance Hub of Regina.
