Re: Celebrating the Body

January 27 to June 3, 2018
Opening Celebration | Friday, January 26, 2018
MacKenzie Art Gallery, 3475 Albert St, Regina, SK S4S 6X6
Artist Residency

Housed within the Re: Celebrating the Body platform, the artist residency program and series of related events, talks, performances, and exhibitions (previously known as the MAGDANCE series) are intended to create dynamic spaces of convergence between visual art and contemporary dance. This residency initially arose in response to a simple question: what would happen if one invited a contemporary dance company to stage their season in a public art gallery?
The ongoing response has taken the form of a public conversation between Robin Poitras, Artistic & Managing Director of Regina’s renowned New Dance Horizons (NDH), and Timothy Long, Head Curator of the MacKenzie Art Gallery, beginning with an initial three-month residency and exhibition at the MacKenzie Art Gallery.

This year's unique residency is realized in partnership with the MacKenzie Art Gallery and in concert with the upcoming exhibition Re: Celebrating The Body. Within this residency lies New Dance Horizon's Season 32 Performing Series. The Season 32 lineup will be publicly announced during the press launch set for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the MacKenzie Art Gallery.
