Bartenieff Fundamentals in Near Reach Space

In this class, you will be introduced to Bartenieff’s 6 Fundamental Exercises and 2 Pre-Fundamental exercises (Basic 6 + 2) as well as Laban’s Space Harmony. Each day we will go through all 8 exercises and break down one in detail. Then we will explore some of Laban’s scales both seated and standing.
 
This class will take you into a wide range of movement and invite you to explore undiscovered places in your kinesphere, without requiring a lot of physical space around you. You will need enough space to lay down and extend your arms and legs in a big X. Please have a mat to lay on and something to sit on such as a bolster, stool, chair, exercise ball, or simply on the floor. Wear comfortable clothes you can move freely in.

Caitlin Coflin is a dancer and dance teacher in Regina, SK. Caitlin completed her Post-Secondary training in Winnipeg, MB and received her BA Honours in Dance from the University of Winnipeg in affiliation with the Professional Program of the School of Contemporary Dancers. Since returning to Regina in 2010 she has been a member of the teaching staff at Youth Ballet of Saskatchewan and teaches through New Dance Horizons’ Dance Core classes. Most recently, Caitlin has been training to become a Somatic Practitioner and Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst.
