FeldenkraisⓇ and Feldenkrais into Dance with Johanna Bundon

TUESDAYS - FELDENKRAIS INTO DANCE

This dynamic movement class considers ideas from Feldenkrais Method and contemporary dance training. The class begins with gentle breath work and moves towards light mobilization of the skeletal structure in various orientations low to the ground. From there, short sequences involving rolling & reaching & pressing are engaged. This class moves in and out of task-based movement projects and organized sequences of repeatable action accompanied by music. Image rich and sensation lush, the vibe of this class is fun-work, luxurious-rigour. Some ideas guiding the process are: ‘don’t try too hard’  & ‘look for pleasant sensation along the way’. This is great training for Dancer, Actors, Singers, Athletes, All Welcome!

WEDNESDAYS - FELDENKRAIS - AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT (ATM)

The Feldenkrais Method Ⓡ is an innovative system of movement education. The intention is to learn greater ease and efficiency of movement. A major theme of this method is that movement is life, and life is movement. When we find more comfort in our movement, we find more comfort and pleasure in our life.
Group classes in the Feldenkrais Method are called Awareness Through Movement Ⓡ (ATM). ATM classes consist of verbally guided movement sequences intended to refine habitual and non-habitual movement patterns. Some classes are very dynamic, including large movements like rolling. Other classes are quiet; interested in small and subtle actions that are explored in various positions like lying on the ground. All classes value restorative movement ideas like: taking rest & doing less than you can. The class environment prioritizes comfort, pleasure, and following your instincts.

Regular practice of Awareness Through Movement Ⓡ (ATM) informs movement intelligence & self awareness. Participants may discover increased coordination & mobility. Other by products of regular practice are better breathing, reduced pain, even better performance in sports, art and life! These classes are suitable for anyone with the curiosity to try.
