Class Description
This class will explore Graham technique with a focus on finding joy and ease in the body. The class will use material from Canadian modern dance pioneer David Earle, exploring his philosophies and his approach to Graham. We will explore his ideas of using dance to access ecstatic states of being.
Instructor Biography
Ben Harvey grew up in Guelph, Ontario and is currently based in Montreal. He is a 2022 graduate of l’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, and a graduate of the Guelph Youth Dance Training Program. Ben has worked with various choreographers including David Earle, Sylvain Émard, Janet Johnson, Suzanne Miller and Alexandre Morin. He is interested in the role that art plays in activism, community-building and world engagement. Ben approaches dance with a spirit of curiosity, queerness, investigation and openness and hopes to express that through his work.
