Animal Yoga / Yoga des animaux with Estelle Bonetto

(EN) Marying words to movements, yoga for children becomes a playful and holistic activity which reinforces language learning (French/English) as well as a life-long tool for deepening knowledge of the self, body awareness and better concentration.
In order to captivate children’s attention and guide them through a safe and fun practise, we will be using a «moving narration» technique incorporating storytelling and yoga postures. We will be accompanied by «Patsy, the yogi cat» who, through her adventures around the world, meets a variety of other animals, mimicking yoga poses like the frog, the turtle, the flamingo, the cat-cow, the butterfly, and many more!

Carnival of the Animals with Allison Luff

Bringing to life composer Camille Saint-Saëns's, "Carnival of the Animals," through sound, motion, and theatre. Each class incorporates music making through free movement, song, and improvisation. Inspired by the life-work of Hungarian music educator Klára Kokas.

Introduction to Contortion & Circus with Anastasia Evsigneeva

In the Introduction to Contortion & Circus classes we will be exploring flexibility through reptilian-like movement. Over the course of two weeks you will be introduced to the basic contortion shapes as well as some exercises to develop strength and fluidity in the body.

Rhythm & Music with Joanne Crofford

Joanne builds on Children’s inherent rhythm and musicality, love of sound, love of music making and the need to be appreciated. Learning by creating, listening, and performing, encourages musically independent students. By the end of this session they will have direct musical experience in both composition and performance.  They will have played a full range of rhythmic percussive sounds including: drums, woods, shakers, bells, and special effects. And, they will both feel and be, more skilled in making music.

Sound Finding and Making - From Foley to Synthesizers with Shelley Bindon

Shelley is a trained percussionist who performs in classical and military traditions. A love of '80's synthesizers led her to sound design, and she now explores her days through sound, word and music. Her sound art mixes foley, field recording, software sound design and electronic instruments. When teaching, she enjoys facilitating others to discover what holds meaning for them and ways to share that meaning sonically.

When facilitating, Shelley demonstrates sound gathering techniques such as foley, field recording and electronic/software sound design. Next comes an introduction to basic music-making concepts and hands-on demonstrations of how to play select electronic instruments. She then watches budding sound artists find their grooves.

West African Drumming with Joseph Ashong

West African Drumming (Ghana) celebrations of boys and girls coming of age, weddings, food harvest and so many more. Children will be able to learn the rhythm, skills and the culture!
