Areas Of Programming

NDH programming consists of three major components: Creation and Production (in-house and collaborative creation), Performance Presentation (performances), Learning and Teaching (education, mentorship and outreach), and , each of which have developed in close connection with our audience.

  • PERFORMANCE PRESENTATION NDH brings a carefully selected program of Canadian dance and performance work to Saskatchewan each season in three to five main stage productions, a works-in-progress Blueprint Series, and a regional touring component called the Prairie Dance Circuit. Performing Series:  New Dance Horizons’ annual Performing Series presents the work of local, regional and national contemporary dance artists.

  • LEARNING & TEACHING NDH offers unique professional development opportunities for the dance and artistic community, as well as community engagement activities. Learning and Teaching activities involve workshops and lectures by local and visiting artists, residencies, mentorships, dance and bodywork classes, and community performance opportunities in an effort to deepen the impact of dance and movement-based art within the dance community and general public.

  • CREATION & PRODUCTION Rouge-gorge, is the home of NDH Artistic Director Robin Poitras’ own creative works in dance and performance art and renowned visual artist Edward Poitras. Intense collaboration with artists in dance, theatre, visual, music, and performance art is a mark of Robin’s creative practice, and is the heart of her artistic vision for NDH. Robin’s creative practice is intimately tied to the community through participatory community performances and other creative outreach activities. Launched in 2009, Rouge-gorge is a foundation for research, creation, production and touring. The company produces contemporary dance and performance works by Robin Poitras, Edward Poitras, and guest artists. Traversing between the fields of dance and performance art, Robin’s work brings elements of visual and performance art into an inseparable arena. Intense collaboration with artists in dance, theatre, visual, music, and performance art is a mark of Robin’s creative practice.
